Rock, Talk and Roll with O ROKR
July 2006 – Oakley, Inc. and Motorola, Inc. just announced the availability of O ROKR™ Bluetooth® Stereo Eyewear at Oakley retail stores, sunglass specialty locations, select Sunglass Hut locations, and online at hellomoto.com/orokr and oakley.com. The revolutionary eyewear combines the convenience of hands-free communication, freedom of wireless music streaming from a compatible Bluetooth enabled device* and the unsurpassed clarity of Oakley’s High Definition Optics®.
“The world’s best eyewear and wireless technologies have merged into another first-ever invention that offers new levels of freedom and mobility,” said Colin Baden, president of Oakley. “O ROKR seamlessly blends the optical technologies of Oakley with the wireless innovation and expertise of Motorola. O ROKR continues our market-leading innovation of integrating optics and electronics, expanding upon the collaborative innovation that began with RAZRWIRE™ Bluetooth Eyewear.”
“Stereo music streaming, wireless connectivity and unbeatable optical clarity are now integrated into wearable wireless technology," said Greg Estell, vice president of Motorola’s MobileME, Mobile Device business. “This synergy of technology showcases the best of both companies, answering the promise of seamless mobility to deliver freedom, convenience and style. Never before have consumers had the opportunity to maintain an active lifestyle, stay entertained and connected to their mobile – with only one accessory.”
O ROKR lets active consumers stay connected to calls and music while hiking, biking and doing virtually any activity where cords and wires can get in the way. Integrated Bluetooth wireless technology allows the lightweight eyewear to wirelessly stream music from a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone such as the Motorola Q™, or a portable music player equipped with an optional add-on Bluetooth Stereo adapter, such as Apple’s iPod® or iPod nano.*
Convenient controls on O ROKR’s frame allow users to enjoy music on the go and never miss a phone call. With O ROKR users not only control multiple phone functions but also switch quickly between stereo music and wireless communication. Combine that with state- of-the-art Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology which includes Bluetooth Handsfree, Headset, Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) profiles, users have a hands-free link to a compatible mobile phone and/or music storage device up to 33 feet (10 meters) away.* An integrated rechargeable battery offers well over 100 hours of standby time and up to five hours of listening or talk time.
Optical Performance
Engineered with the best of Oakley’s eyewear technology, O ROKR features the unbeatable clarity and protection of the company’s High Definition Optics. The lenses are fully interchangeable, and optional lens sets allow the user to adapt to changing light conditions or simply change the look to fit their own personal style. Made of pure Plutonite®, Oakley lenses filter out 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light up to 400nm. The semi- rimless design means there is no frame rim to block downward view, and Oakley’s patented XYZ Optics® maximizes clarity at all angles of vision. O ROKR lenses meet ANSI standards for impact protection. As an added option, Oakley Rx technology can match the frame with prescription lenses.
