Outlaw Audio Adds Deeper Bass Capability with LFM-1 Plus Subwoofer
August 10, 2006 -- Outlaw Audio, the leading Internet-only home theater and audio manufacturer, has introduced the LFM-1 Plus subwoofer, a more flexible version of its acclaimed LFM-1 model that gives consumers selectable tuning options that favor either maximum SPL output, or lower frequency bass extension depending on source material and preference.
"The LFM-1 Plus gives consumers the best of both worlds," comments Outlaw Sales Manager Scott Jackson. "Do you want the heart- palpitation output levels of the LFM-1? No problem. Don't need to shake the house, but you want to extend bass response even lower? Just add the custom port plug, switch the EQ selector, and you've got precise, linear response all the way down to 18 Hz - low enough to hit even the lowest pipe organ passages or earthquake film scene. It's like having two subwoofers in one."
The LFM-1 Plus builds upon the downfiring enclosure design and 12- inch long-throw woofer of its older sibling through the inclusion of a custom designed port plug and sophisticated selectable EQ circuit that is used to select between the tuning modes. Additionally, the new model incorporates a 350 watt BASH power amplifier, an increase of 25 watts over the LFM-1's 325 watt version, in order to handle the increased power demands at low frequencies.
With its custom port plug removed and the Port Mode switch set for "maximum output," the LFM-1 Plus behaves almost identically to the LFM-1, delivering linear response down to 25 Hz and an output level of up to 115 dB in most rooms. When the port plug is installed, and the EQ selector switch set to "maximum extension," the subwoofer is retuned for linear response to 18 Hz and has a slightly reduced maximum output of 112 dB in most rooms.
The Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus subwoofer is currently available exclusively from the company's online store at www.outlawaudio.com for $679. The original Outlaw LFM-1 subwoofer will remain available at its suggested retail price of $579.
