Hitachi Brings Consumers the Ultimate Fantasy Football ContestAugust 7, 2007 -- Hitachi America, Ltd. just announced that it has partnered with Athlon Sports to bring consumers the “Rush for 2000 Yards” online fantasy football contest, a promotion beginning in July and running through the end of the professional football season. The “Rush for 2000 Yards” contest allows participants to get involved in a unique form of fantasy football that zeroes in on running backs and the “smashmouth” part of professional football – the running game! “Rush for 2000 Yards” (www.rushfor2000yards.com) allows contestants to choose a new running back from a professional football team each week to be their designated “rusher” and predict his yards and number of rushing attempts. Players will receive weekly emails detailing the results from each round as well as a fantasy newsletter. Weekly and Grand Prize winners will be determined based on participants’ aptitude at predicting each week’s top performing running backs and the player’s actual yards gained. “We’re thrilled to offer consumers the opportunity to play ‘Rush for 2000 Yards.’ They will be able to keep up with their favorite running backs while getting the opportunity to win great prizes such as football memorabilia, Hitachi products and a trip to Hawaii,” says Daniel Lee, vice president of marketing for Hitachi America, Ubiquitous Platform Systems Division. The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Honolulu, Hawaii for a chance to see professional football in action, and weekly First Place Prize winners will receive an official team jersey of their choice. Each week, the Second Place Prize winners will receive an autographed mini-helmet, while Third Place Prize winners will receive a team hat of their choice. Participants also will qualify for a chance to win a Hitachi flat screen television or a Hitachi camcorder. Pre-registration began July 20, and the promotion will run from July-December 2007, spanning a majority of the pro football season.
