Goodbye, Power Strip - Hello, PowerSquid
May 10 , 2006-- Conventional power and surge protection strips used to connect and protect home and office equipment have an inherent design limitation: their side-by- side outlets don't leave room for the bulky adapters of today's electronics, so a five-outlet strip frequently cannot fit more than three or four devices. Now Power Sentry comes to the rescue with the PowerSquid series, a family of surge protectors and power multipliers with flexible "tentacles" of varying lengths that ensure full use of every outlet.
Each Power Sentry PowerSquid product, named for its five tentacles, has one 10", two 8" and two 6" power cords attached to a palm-sized control box. The staggered lengths as well as the flex in each cord allow plugs and transformers of any size to be connected without interfering with each other, eliminating the outlet-overlap problem encountered when using a traditional power strip. In addition, this design permits device cords to be connected from greater distances and bent in different directions, adapting to almost any equipment setup. Each cord is grounded and adapter-ready.
Power Sentry's top-of-the-line PowerSquid Home Theater/Computer Workstation Surge Protector (SRP $39.99) comes with both coaxial/broadband and phone/DSL line protection to accommodate a computer, printer, fax machine, digital camera and MP3 player -- a flat panel TV, DVD player, cable box, DVR box and stereo -- or any other combination of electronic gear.
It is also equipped with Power Sentry's PowerBlocker automatic shutdown technology, which shuts down power to connected devices to protect against harmful power surges once the protector absorbs its maximum 540 joules of excess voltage; and EMI/RFI noise filtration up to 40dB to reduce interference from household appliances and electronics.
The PowerSquid series also includes a coax-only TV/DVD/Portable Surge Protector (SRP $34.99), a phone-only Computer/Telephone Surge Protector (SRP $34.99), and a General Purpose Surge Protector (SRP $29.99) with the same automatic shutdown technology, 540 joule rating and noise filtration as the home theater/computer workstation model; and a General Purpose Power Multiplier (SRP $14.99).
All products in the line have protection and ground indicator lights, and the surge protection products carry a $100,000 limited connected equipment warranty. White, black, gray, silver and green models blend into any home or office decor.
