ELAN Home Systems Hits CEDIA 2006 with New Communications Controller

September 14, 2006 — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, announced today the trade debut of its COM2 Communications Controller at CEDIA 2006. CEDIA, the custom electronics industry’s largest trade show, is being held in Denver, Colorado through September 17. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

In 1989, ELAN was the first company to integrate the home’s standard touch-tone telephones into whole-house audio/video distribution systems, providing homeowners with indispensable in-home communications from any room. Many of the original communications features are now patented by ELAN. Representing ELAN’s “next generation” of telephone-based intercom and whole-house communications offerings, the new COM2 provides communication features over two phone lines and independent access to four ELAN Door Stations, among other unique additions.

“With approximately 70% of our system sales being matched with our current Communications Controller we expect even stronger usage based on the incorporation of multi-line and multi-door station capabilities, user-selectable digital door chimes and the host of other features that place the COM2 at the forefront of its product category,” stated Mr. Farinelli. “Homeowners frequently tell us that this is the most often used set of features in any ELAN system and Dealers see this product as the easiest upgrade to sell and install in any system.”

He added, “The simultaneous delivery of the COM2 along with our new Ole' Film Interactive Touchpad will give us a terrific boost with our Dealers, continuing the pattern of strong growth we have experienced over the last three years."

Following on the success of, and industry acclaim for, ELAN’s Z600 Communications Controller, the COM2 retains all of the tried-and-true features that have become an integral part of the lives of its users, including whole-house paging, phone-to-phone intercom, door station communications, music-on-hold, caller-on-hold and phone-activated relays. This next generation product offers numerous requested features such as two-line capability, caller ID pass through, independent access of up to four ELAN Door Stations and the ability to select from 10 new digital door chimes to fit the homeowner’s tastes and environment.

Other impressive features include enhanced surge protection, a USB port for downloading future upgrades and much more. The COM2 is fully compatible with all ELAN Multi-Room Controllers and can also be easily integrated into any stand-alone multi-room audio system.

ELAN’s new COM2 Communications Controller is slated to ship in Q4 2006 at a MSRP of $1,199.00.

Also to be announced at CEDIA is the release of three new ELAN Door Stations compatible with the COM2. This new line of Door Stations will include both flush- and surface-mount models, as well as a model with a built-in color CCTV camera, and require only a single wire run of Cat-5 cable for full functionality, including video. All three models will be available in polished brass, polished chrome and ivory, and two new finishes, oil-rubbed Bronze and Satin Nickel.
