April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambridge SoundWorks began shipping its SoundWorks Radio 820HD stereo table radio today. The newest member of the award-winning high-performance Cambridge SoundWorks radio family, the SoundWorks Radio 820HD delivers HD Radio broadcasting's fresh new content on HD2 multicast channels. Consumers can access text information and experience crystal-clear HD Radio sound quality with the SoundWorks Radio 820HD, all with no monthly fees. The SoundWorks Radio 820HD retails for $299.99. It is available for purchase at cambridgesoundworks.com, by calling 1-800-FOR-HIFI, at Cambridge SoundWorks' Boston-area showroom and other select retailers. Cambridge SoundWorks is a member of the Creative Technology Ltd. family of digital entertainment brands.

HD Radio broadcasting is a transformational technology that allows AM and FM stations to broadcast digital signals in tandem with their analog signals, providing broadcasters with a platform to offer multiple channels of programming on the same frequency (multicasting). HD Radio technology provides crystal-clear, CD-quality sound, services such as real-time weather and traffic updates, and scrolling text and graphics content. Over 1,200 U.S. stations are on the air, available to 80 percent of Americans, with more than 600 stations offering second multicasting channels.

"Now is the perfect time to discover and share the new programming and incredible fidelity of HD Radio broadcasting," said Rob Mainiero, general manager of Cambridge SoundWorks. "They say good things come in small packages and our new SoundWorks Radio 820HD is a perfect example."

The SoundWorks Radio 820HD offers the rich, accurate and full-range sound that has made Cambridge SoundWorks radios famous. It will fill even a large room with rich sound, yet is compact enough to fit easily on a small table. It features dual alarms, a convenient auxiliary input to connect other audio sources, such as an iPod or ZEN MP3 player, and a stereo headphone jack.

"We are thrilled to have this new Cambridge SoundWorks radio as the latest addition to the rapidly growing HD Digital Radio family," said Peter Ferrara, president and CEO of the HD Digital Radio Alliance. "We are grateful to Cambridge SoundWorks for being a wonderful partner in our effort to help consumers discover and enjoy HD Digital Radio."

These award-winning products are sold online at cambridgesoundworks.com, through its Catalog and Call Center operations (1-800-FOR-HIFI) and Boston-area showroom. Cambridge SoundWorks products are also available at select home entertainment retailers across the country.
