Alternative for Enjoying iPods and XM Satellite Radio at Home
April 17, 2006-- Yamaha introduces two receivers that seamlessly deliver audio and video from Apple iPods® and XM® Satellite Radio content – including the new XM® HD Surround programming which debuted this month – through a home stereo system.
Yamaha’s RX-V659 and RX-V559 receivers connect to iPods via the optional Yamaha YDS-10 docking base. Once docked, users have access to their library of audio and video files stored on the popular portable devices. The dock also automatically charges iPods so that they are ready to take on the go at any time. Proprietary sound technology enhances the playback quality of compressed files stored on an iPod, or any other mp3 player, offering a vastly improved sound quality alternative to stand alone systems with limited fidelity and power.
XM HD Surround from XM Satellite Radio delivers audio programming in full 5.1 channel surround sound. An XM Passport, sold separately, is the only accessory XM Satellite Radio subscribers will need to receive this content, along with the company’s 160-plus standard service channels.
