Altec Lansing Launches a New Portable Speaker for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players

October 3, 2006 -- Today, Altec Lansing officially announced its new partnership with SanDisk Corporation, the inventor of flash storage cards and the world’s largest supplier of flash data storage card products that use its patented, high-density flash memory and controller technology. In 2004, the company expanded into the music entertainment sector with the introduction of a line of portable digital music players. And now, SanDisk has partnered with Altec Lansing, a leader in portable audio, to give users of its digital music players a way to enjoy their music out loud. The result of this partnership is the inMotion iM510, a portable speaker system for SanDisk Sansa players.

“We feel that it is important to offer our consumers many choices for enhancing, customizing and personalizing their Sansa players,” said Eric Bone, Director of Audio Video Product Marketing, SanDisk. “Having the option to listen to your music out loud and share it with friends is an important step in creating positive user experiences. With Altec Lansing as a leader in the portable audio category, we felt the company was a good fit for us and a good audio solution for our consumers.”

Altec Lansing’s history of innovation started more than 75 years ago when it brought sound to movies in the 1920s and continues today as a leading manufacturer of digital audio speaker systems. The company introduced the first portable speaker for MP3 players in 2003 and since has developed a series of versatile portable products for the MP3 market.

“Altec Lansing’s heritage is in offering consumers a variety of products in order to meet their varying lifestyle needs,” said Robert Heiblim, Senior VP Sales and Marketing, Altec Lansing. “From price points to features, we are constantly working to bring new product offerings to market. This also means partnering with industry leaders to provide high-quality audio solutions to their consumers. And, we decided that an affiliation with SanDisk was the next big step.”

This new relationship allows consumers to add salsa to their Sansas with the iM510. This system replaces headphone listening with high quality, crystal-clear, out-loud sound. Indeed, the iM510 is sure to spark the karaoke rock-star in you.

The iM510’s four custom-designed drivers and MaxxBass® technology pack plenty of hot audio bite in a package the size of a paperback book. Folding compactly and weighing a little more than 1 lb., the speaker system can be tossed in a small purse or book bag right along with your Sansa player. And, with battery capability, the highly portable iM510 lets you play your favorite Sansa tunes out loud, anywhere.
