Ion Educational Gaming System
With video games being in so many homes, it’s easy to see why it’s said that children do not get enough exercise. But what if you could combine their passion for video games with athletic action? With the Ion Educational Gaming System (E.G.S.) you can! Created by GestureTek and licensed by Hasbro’s PLAYSKOOL line, children ages 4-7 can combine their love for video games with active movement.
The Ion E.G.S. lets children ages 4-7 watch themselves in the video game itself, using their body movement to move their personal character onscreen. A camera built into the video game console captures their movements and places them onscreen alongside popular TV characters. Standard controllers are not used, as the motions are captured through special motion-control sensors. The games combine physical activity, balance, and coordination along with basic math, reading, spelling, color recognition, and other basic skills. The games are intended for 4-5 year olds, or 5-7 year olds. Each Active Learning Disc comes with four to five games consisting of three levels each, so children can improve upon their skills. Many of the games will feature popular characters from the Nickelodeon network.
The Ion E.G.S. console will be available in August with one included Active Learning Disc. Current retail price is slated at $99.99. Active Learning Discs will be sold separately for $14.99 each. www.hasbro.com
