LinkStation Live: Share Any File, Anywhere

LinkStation LiveEver been on a trip and wish you could easily access content stored on the NAS device sitting on your desk or at home? What if you just wanted to listen to the MP3s stored on it while you're away? Or, what if you wanted to share photos with friends and family in another country without having to deal with time-consuming uploads?

Buffalo just announced its new Web Access feature for its LinkStation Live NAS devices. It allows users to instantly and securely share and access digital content and MP3s stored on a LinkStation Live from anywhere in the world.

The new Web Access feature is available via a simple web browser interface. Because no software or drivers are required to share or access content, set-up is a snap. Simply log onto www.buffaloNAS.com from any computer, enter your LinkStation name and immediately connect to your digital content. The new feature is available for existing LinkStation Live customers via a simple firmware upgrade.

Web Access FeatureWeb Access also includes MP3 streaming support, which allows users to remotely stream music stored on their LinkStation Live, no matter where they are in the world. It supports UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and access is highly secure with optional SSL encryption. Users can also restrict public access so only designated people can open certain files.

The LinkStation Live is available in capacities of 250GB (HS-DH250GL), 320GB (HS-DH320GL), 500GB (HS-DH500GL) and 750GB (HS-DH750GL). It allows users to instantly store, access, backup and share multimedia and other files from any computer on their home. The device can be used as an iTunes server, which allows iTunes 7 software to access music stored on the device. It also includes the ability to download and store photos and videos directly from a digital camera. It offers ultra fast transfer rates of up to 35MB/s. For even better performance, the LinkStation Live also includes a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Port and Gigabit Jumbo Frame Support. It is Windows and Macintosh compatible and includes two USB 2.0 ports for expanded networked storage or as backup targets such as a USB hard drive.

Web Access is currently only available for LinkStation Live customers. It will soon be available for other Buffalo NAS products. The LinkStation Live is available at estimated street prices of $229 for the 250GB (HS-DH250GL), $249 for the 320GB (HS-DH320GL), $349 for the 500GB (HS-DH500GL) and $649 for the 750GB (HS-DH750GL). www.buffalotech.com.
