Ever since its launch, the Wii's unique and unprecedented approach to gaming has managed to expand the pool of gamers with its variety of gaming options. It has not only attracted those hard core gamers but has also drawn the interest of first time game players. And yet the success of this product has not stifled the creativity of developers who plan to launch three new ideas for their console. The first of which is Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which will hit stores on March 9th, 2008 and sell for $49.99. The game features Nintendo characters from every genre of Nintendo games and boasts to be something that can be played over and over with its variety of setting and character options.
WiiWare is another revolutionary idea that will change the way that games are produced and sold. It is an online service that plans to launch on May 12th. The site will allow game developers to test and introduce new gaming ideas. Through this website gamers will be able to browse up and coming games from a variety of genres and prices. Consumers can then vote on their favorite games through Wii points which help to decide what games will be produced and sold. The site will feature top developers like Square Enix and their new game such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a King, and Frontier's Lost Winds.
Perhaps the most interesting and exciting of the new Wii products to be released is Wii Fit, due in stores May 19th. Wii Fit is a new product idea to help consumers get in shape with their Wii consoles. This product promises to make fitness fun and productive with the online Wii Fit Channel where consumers can keep track of their fitness progress. The new Wii balance board technology keeps track of your weight and motion while you play new games, specifically designed for this technology. Since its launch in Japan the balance board has sold 1.4 million units in the past three months and expects similar success in the United States. The price of Wii Fit has not yet been announced for the North American market.
