Nike+iPod Sport Kit

Nike+iPodNike has teamed up with Apple to create synchronicity between the music that provides a soundtrack to your morning jog and the work-out you experience. The Nike+iPod Sports kit contains a sensor that fits into Nike+ athletic shoes as well as a receiver that takes information from the sensor to provide a summary of your workout on your iPod nano. Your tiny iPod will even read the results to you, and then your information can be uploaded to Nike’s website, where you can analyze and compare your stats with other runners.

This is a brilliant pairing, adding something every runner wants to something that many of them already have. A jogger’s best friend is his or her iPod, the one thing that is always there to keep them company on those early morning or late night work-out sessions. With this new add-on, not only is the iPod entertaining and comforting, it also becomes very useful. Your progress can be monitored during and after runs, keeping you on pace to meet or break goals you set for yourself. Now, not only is the iPod your friend encouraging your efforts, its also your trainer, telling you how you’re doing and just how far you have to go to reach your goals.

Nike’s new Nike+iPod Sport Kit is now available. The sensor/receiver package runs at $29, but the Nike+ shoes and iPod nano are sold separately and are necessary to fully utilize the system’s capabilities. More information can be found at www.apple.com/ipod/nike/.
