George: The Future Proof Digital Audio System

George with iPod and remote By George they did it! Chestnut Hill Sound, Inc. (the people who deliver audio solutions for the iPod) truly delivers function and BIG sound from the iPod with emulating the multi-amped “2.1” recording systems sound with — George. This is really the name of the speaker system for the iPod — an AM/FM radio, alarm clock that is also future proof!

George is not just a speaker, and radio system as you might think on the outside. The detachable face/remote downloads all of the meta data on the 4G iPod or later, and you can see and control your music from the remote. I was really impressed with this remote because it was just like the iPod menu system. The distance was equally impressive, but like all remotes you can get out of range easily. So, for George, he has a lot to offer on the inside as well as looking good on the outside.

George remoteThe inside of George is where Chestnut Hill Sound stands apart from their competition, because they have created a central platform for accessing the content inside the iPod. Where you are already familiar with the user interface on the iPod, Chestnut Hill Sound delivers that familiarity to you with George’s internal components right on the remote.

When I said George is future proof, I mean the rear panel has a USB port for software upgrades and hardware. There are also ports for your other MP3 players, CD players, and a pre-amp jack for plugging right into your home audio system.

I have embraced George, and plugged him into my home audio system. My wife’s new iPhone has been plugged into George while we listen to her tunes through the house, and there is one cool thing that happens … the phone rings through the speakers! Now, she can listen to music without worrying if there is a missed call. I have had a lot of fun when calling my wife during the day … are you and George having a good time? What is George doing? George is slowly becoming a member of the family.

George can become a member of your family too for $499 MSRP...a reduction of $50 from the original price of $549. Don’t forget that George can wake you up with the multi-alarm features, and the AM/FM radio function is great as well. It is really a bandless tuner, allowing for organizing the radio stations by interest, rather than by the band. You should also look out for the no subscription HD radio tuner module available the second half of 2007. Remember when I said future proof … what else can Chestnut Hill Sound produce? For a limited time, Chestnut Hill Sound just announced they are offering its Ultimate Remote Control Recharging Stand with GEORGE at no additional cost through December 31, 2007. After the holiday season, the recharging stand will be sold separately for $50.
