RiData Is One of First to Be Sold in US

It seems the demand for HDTV just continues to pick up speed! RITEK Corporation, which just happens to be the world's largest optical media manufacturer, is one of the first optical disc manufacturers to introduce the new HD DVD-R medium in the United States. The first RiData disc supports up to 15GB of capacity on a single-layer. Availability is scheduled for late July, concurrent with the introduction of many hardware products designed to support the new format.

Taking advantage of its highly developed manufacturing process skills, RITEK was able to develop both an organic dye and inorganic dye type of HD DVD-R. The new RiData HD DVD-R medium supports the latest state-of-the-art copy protection as mandated by the HD DVD standard. This insures compatibility and enables authorized use, prohibits unauthorized copying and distribution, and repairs previous flaws in copy protection.

Compared to older DVD technology, HD DVD offers state-of-the-art picture quality as well as superior features and functionality. Multiple audio and video streams, up to 7.1 channel surround sound, and more user-friendly graphical interfaces are just a few of these advancements.

In addition to the 15GB, single-layer HD DVD-R product, in the next few months the company will introduce RiData-brand 30GB dual-layer HD DVD-R and 15GB single-layer HD DVD-RW.

The RiData HD DVD-R optical disc is packaged in a single jewel case, and will be available through selected retailers, RiData distributors, and at various online outlets.
