Sprint Nextel Text to Landline

Sprint PCS Phone A840 by SamsungJust about everyone and their mother (even your mother!) has a cell phone these days. Even so, that hasn’t managed to negate the use of a landline yet. House phones are still fairly common, and sometimes they’re more convenient than a cell phone. After all, they can still make and receive phone calls, and now they can receive text messages as well. Sprint Nextel has just introduced the Text-to-Landline service, allowing customers to send text messages to any landline phone from a cell phone capable of two-way texting.

The formula is simple: just compose a text message and send it to any 10-digit landline number in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The landline phone will ring, and when the phone is answered, the text message will be read to the recipient. Then, the listener can choose to respond with one of several pre-set text messages, or record a voicemail to be sent to the texter. Text-to-Landline service is charged at the same rate as standard text messaging on your personal plan.

Sprint Nextel’s Text-to-Landline service is only one of many messaging options offered. For plan information, phones, and rates, please visit www.sprint.com. Current Sprint and Nextel subscribers can begin using Text-to-Landline service immediately.
