Audiovox has teamed up with Clear Channel Communications, Tele Atlas and Siemens to develop a new product called Real Time Traffic that not only provides navigation to drivers, but also provides up-to-the minute, localized traffic updates. Audiovox's Real Time Traffic uses RDS technology to provide traffic condition updates every two minutes - and in the traffic-challenged New York City area, is updated as frequently as every 30 seconds.

With 22 different traffic icons to describe changing traffic conditions, not only does Real Time Traffic tell you why you shouldn't take a certain route, but it also suggests options for the quickest alternate routes. Real Time Traffic is currently available in 48 markets and continues to grow.

The Audiovox Real-Time Traffic System is currently available for Navigation Models NPC5400 and NPD5500, which include a Real-Time receiver (NAVTMC) and map release software. There is no charge for activation of the Real Time Traffic system and the first three months of service use are free. Consumers can purchase subsequent service contracts in one and two year increments; one year activation is priced at $59.90 ($4.99 per month), two years costs $95.90 ($4.00 per month).
