Etymotic Announces Improved Handsfree Mobile Phone Headset

May 23, 2005 -- With more and more cities implementing laws requiring handsfree mobile phone use, Etymotic Research recommends the ETY- COM for today's mobile workforce that will be required to adhere to these new laws. New York, New Jersey, Washington DC and New Hampshire require the use of handsfree devices. The Illinois law goes into effect July 8, 2005.

Etymotic Research of Elk Grove Village, IL, the inventor of widely acclaimed quality in-the-ear earphones, is widening distribution of their ETY-COM, the first handsfree mobile phone headset to solve the problems that really matter: voice quality and noise isolation.

Clarity and Noise Rejection
The sound reproduction of the earphone in the ETY-COM extends beyond the typical telephone bandwidth, resulting in exceptional clarity. In fact, this headset uses one of Etymotic's earphones designed for use with digital music players.

The ETY-COM's noise-canceling microphone is highly directional. It picks up the talker's voice within a narrow range and rejects background noise that comes from outside that range. Clear, two-way conversations are possible even in very high background noise. The user can carry on a quiet conversation in a public place without annoying others. Privacy is maintained.

Look: No Hands
"After testing 20 or so headsets for hands-free driving, I concluded that I could hear best if the device fit into my ear," said Howard Wolinsky in a recent article in the Chicago Sun Times. "My favorite corded headset was the ETY-COM from Etymotic. The plastic eartip was the most comfortable and the sound the best." The ETY-COM was also featured in Business Week, where the technology editor indicated that the benefits of having a noise-canceling boom microphone and an in-the-ear design make it possible to hear calls clearly even in noisy environments.

Retail price is $69 which includes the ETY-COM and a selection of eartips. The ETY-COM works with all phones that have a universal, 3-conductor 2.5mm plug.

The ETY-COM is sold by major retailers such as Amazon, palm Stores, J&R Music World, numerous Internet sites, and is now available to dealers through major distributors including D&H Distributing, IngramMicro, DBL Distributing, Widget and others.
