Detroit Auto Show 2006: Hybrids Shine
Hybrids are being deemed the car of the future, but since they are in limited supply today, they command a premium price. At the Detroit Auto Show this week, a greater variety of hybrid vehicles are being announced, which should lower their price and allow more people to afford them.
Hybrid engines work by turning kinetic movement into electricity to help power the car. Even SUVs are getting hybrid engines. General Motors announced that two of their top-selling SUVs - the Saturn VUE Greenline and the 2007 Chevy Tahoe - will have hybrid engines, improving their fuel economy tremendously.
With some of the biggest car manufacturers offering hybrid engines in some of their most popular cars, you may be driving a hybrid vehicle sooner than you thought.
