Photographers, take notice! There are just two weeks left in X-Rite's "Season of Color" Photo Contest, which started back in October. To enter to win, simply submit your original images that you feel best represent the week's featured PANTONE PLUS SERIES color. The top 10 winners each week (determined by popular vote) will receive an X-Rite ColorChecker Passport (worth $99!).
To enter the contest, go to www.xritephoto.com/seasonsofcolor, where you can view a gallery of all submissions and also place your vote. More details on the Seasons of Color Photo Contest and the specific PANTONE PLUS SERIES Color of the Week can be found by following X-Rite Photo on Facebook and Twitter.
What is X-Rite's ColorChecker Passport? It is a "capture to edit" color solution for photographer's looking for more accurate, consistent color and creative flexibility in their digital photography Raw workflow. And when combined with software controls in Adobe Imaging solutions, photographers can gain even greater workflow benefits by significantly reducing their digital image processing time.
Head on over to www.xritephoto.com/seasonsofcolor to submit your photos! Remember, winners are determined by popular vote so be sure to get all of your friends to cast their vote! The contest ends December 31, 2010.

How to Make a DVD Movie in Ubuntu
It is common to feel a little overwhelmed when switching to the Ubuntu operating system. The OS itself is not all that different from the Windows or Mac systems people are familiar with, but some of the productivity software bundled with it can be drastically different. Luckily, with a little practice, you can do everything on Ubuntu you can do on Windows, often easier and with better results
Instructions
1
Go to "Applications," select the "Sound and Video" subfolder, and then select the program called "Brasero Disc Burning." Brasero is a CD/DVD writer that comes preinstalled with Ubuntu, so you won't need any other software to quickly and easily burn a DVD.
2
Select "Video Project" from the list of choices that come up when the program loads. There are a variety of options available when loading Brasero, but the one that is relevant to making a DVD movie is "Video Project."
3
Add your video files to the project. You can do this by either dragging and dropping them from a folder into the main window of the screen, or by clicking on "File" and then "Add." A status bar at the bottom of the window will become more and more full as you add files, indicating how much disc space you have left to work with.
4
Click "Burn." This will encode the video files, changing them from whatever format they are presently in to one that can be burned to a DVD and read by any standard DVD player or drive.
5
Make sure a blank disc is in the drive. When Brasero finishes encoding your files, it will then write them directly to the disc. Depending on the speed of your drive and the speed of your computer, this could take as short as 5 minutes or as long as 1 hour. A dialog box will pop up when everything is complete indicating that the project is done, at which point you can take your newly burned DVD and play it on whatever DVD player you see fit.
