2011 Chevrolet Volts Ship to Dealerships
Yesterday, the first 2011 Chevrolet Volt electric vehicles left the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant on their way to dealerships – meaning customers in California, Texas, Washington D.C. and New York could receive the first-and-only electric vehicle with extended-range capability in the next few days.
Voted "Car of the Year" by MotorTrend, Automobile and Green Car Journal, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt can drive up to 379 miles without a recharge or gas fill up, thanks to the Voltec electric propulsion system which combines battery-only electric driving with a gas-powered engine.
"Today is a historic milestone for Chevrolet," said Tony DiSalle, Volt marketing director. "We have redefined automotive transportation with the Volt, and soon the first customers will be able to experience gas-free commuting with the freedom to take an extended trip whenever or wherever they want."
