Onkyo Rolls Out Two New Mini Systems

Onkyo CS-V645 DVD/CD Mini System with iPod

Onkyo unveiled two new mini systems this week – the CS-V645, an audio-video mini system complete with DVD/CD receiver, iPod dock, and a pair of two-way loudspeakers; and the CS-445, a stereo mini system with CD receiver, iPod/iPhone dock, and two smaller two-way speakers. Both of these mini systems are perfect for areas where space is limited.

The Onkyo CS-V645 DVD/CD mini system can play formats from DVDs, CDs, iPod, and USB. It supports MP3, WMA, JPEG, and DivX files, and videos are upscaled to 1080p for output to a high definition video display over an HDMI connection. It touts a 40-watt stereo amplifier, two high-performance two-way bass-reflex loudspeakers with 1-inch soft dome tweeters and Onkyo's OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) woofer cones. The DVD receiver has a 20-preset FM tuner, and the iPod dock is placed right on top of the receiver. A USB jack is located on the front panel for easy access. A remote control is also included. The Onkyo CS-V645 will be available in early December for $399.

The new stereo mini system, Onkyo's CS-445 CD, plays CD's, CD-R and CD-RW media with standard CD-audio, MP3, and WMA files. It also features a 40-watt stereo amplifier and the same two-way bass-reflex loudspeakers as the CS-V645 (although a bit smaller). The CD receiver has an AM/FM tuner with 40 presets, and the iPod/iPhone dock is located on top of the unit. A remote control is also included. The Onkyo CS-445 will be available in early November for $329.
