Olympus Launches New Online Photo Service
On Thursday, Olympus launched [ib on the net], a new online photo service for storing, organizing, sharing and printing photos.
[ib on the net] offers:
Photo Space: Organize your pictures by people, place or event and share them online with friends or family. You decide which pictures to share and who to share them with. Friends and family can also upload pictures to your albums – only if you let them. Price: 2GB free storage (for a limited time). Additional storage space is $2.00/GB per year. The service is currently only accepting JPEG images.
Share Space: Transfer pictures you want shared to your Share Space and you can organize them by people, place or event. Based on your settings friends can view, comment, download and add photos to your share spaces.
Photo Bank: Your own personal online vault. Photo Bank recovers your lost photos and videos and gives you peace of mind knowing your photos are safe if your computer is damaged or stolen. Price: $5 per gigabyte per year.
Online Store: Order professional quality photo prints, photo books, calendars, greeting cards and other related items.
"We're excited to offer our customers a complete photo solution to make it easier than ever for them to manage and get the most out of their photos," said Michael Timar, Director of Business Development for Olympus Memory Works America Inc. "Imagine going to a bridal shower, wedding or baby shower. After the event, you can create a share space where everyone can add their photos, and enjoy the complete collection of photos. Then, with a few clicks, each can create a beautiful photo book using their favorite pictures, not just the ones from their own camera."
