Best Buy to Sell Toshiba Satellite L635 Kids PC
Toshiba and Best Buy have teamed up to create a full-sized kids' laptop with features designed with kids (and parents) in mind. The new Toshiba Satellite L635 has kid-friendly features like a wipeable keyboard and a textured finish that helps resist fingerprints. It also comes with two Disney movies and a LEGO Batman game pre-loaded, along with KidZui and Net Nanny software.
But just because it is a kids' PC doesn't mean it's stripped down. It runs Windows 7, features a 13.3-inch HD display, a dual-core Intel Celeron processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, built-in DVD drive and includes a Webcam with software designed for younger users.
The Satellite L635 Kids' PC is designed for children aged five to 10, and it also gives parents peace of mind with the pre-loaded KidZui Internet browser and Net Nanny, software which lets parents set boundaries on how the laptop is used.
"The laptop has traditionally been a device conceived and built for adults, and devices currently being marketed to kids are either netbooks or toy-based computers," said Jeff Barney, vice president and general manager, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "As a result of this collaboration with Best Buy, we have made a product that provides the right measure of fun and entertainment for children while meeting the computing needs and security concerns of their parents."
The Toshiba Satellite L635 Kids' PC will be available exclusively at Best Buy beginning Sept. 26, 2010 for $499.
