PlayStation 3 to Get Blu-ray 3D Update

 PlayStation 3

Sony announced this week that they will be releasing a new system software update that will allow PlayStation 3 users to watch 3D content from Blu-ray 3D discs. Scheduled for release on September 21, 2010, the new update (v.3.50) expands the PS3's 3D capabilities (the recent 3.30 firmware update added the ability to play stereoscopic 3D games), making it better than ever.

Sony had originally announced the update would be available later this year, but apparently moved the release date up due to the popularity of 3D movies and gaming. On the PlayStation Blog, it was said that more information would be available on Monday. Stay tuned.
