Free Netflix App for iPhone Now Available

Back in April there was a buzz about a free Netflix app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Then, in June it was announced (but not yet available). Now (finally!), the free Netflix app for iPhone is here and ready for use.

To watch movies and TV episodes on your iPhone or iPod touch, all you need to do is have a Netflix membership (they start at $8.99 a month), go to http://iTunes.com/apps/netflix and download the free Netflix app.

The app allows you to fast-forward, rewind, and stop the video stream at any time. When you want to start watching it again, the video stream starts right where it was stopped, even on a different Netflix-capable device. The Netflix app supports any iPhone or iPod touch device running iOS version 3.13 or later.

"Apple has changed the game for mobile devices," said Reed Hastings, Netflix co-founder and chief executive officer. "We're excited that our members can now carry Netflix around in their pockets and instantly watch movies and TV shows streamed from Netflix right to their iPhone or iPod touch."
