More people are using computers on-the-go than ever before - business travelers, college students, even moms, catching up on the latest news while the kids are at practice. Virgin Mobile just announced Broadband2Go, a new wireless broadband service that provides unlimited wireless broadband access for only $40 a month. Operating on the Sprint Nationwide Network, users can be assured that no matter where the road may lead, they will be able to stay connected – and with no monthly contract.

Available now online at VirginMobileUSA.com, this new plan replaces the previous $20, $40 and $60 plans. The company is also offering a $10 option for 100 MB, good for 10 days from purchase, for less frequent internet users.

Two different mobile broadband devices are available:

  • Ovation MC760 USB device - connects to a single computer or laptop and is available for $79.99
  • MiFi 2200 - priced at $149.99, it provides broadband wireless for up to 5 Wi-Fi devices, like laptops, e-readers, MP3 players, and gaming devices

Devices are available at Best Buy, RadioShack , Sprint Stores, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile stores, Walmart and online at BestBuy.com, Target.com, Walmart.com and VirginMobileUSA.com.

Broadband2Go is available at VirginMobileUSA.com today, Wednesday, August 25 and rolls out to retailers in the next few weeks.

UPDATE: It looks like Broadband2Go is not quite ready to launch today as expected. We received the following message from Virgin Mobile:

Broadband2Go $40 Unlimited Plan New Offer Update

We are so sorry. We are experiencing some system issues and are unable to launch the new Broadband2Go $40 unlimited plan today as expected. Customer Care will also not be able to accept activations at this time.

We are working hard to fix this, and do anticipate the launch to happen over the next two days. Thank you for your patience.
