New Pioneer Elite G-Clef CD Players, Amplifiers Tout AIR Studios Certification

 Pioneer Elite G-Clef PD-D9MK2

Home audio enthusiasts looking for high-end sound without the enormous price tag should check out the latest from Pioneer Electronics. Announced this week, the Elite G-Clef line includes two CD players, the PD-D6MK2 and PD-D9MK2 and two stereo amplifiers, the SX-A6MK2 and SX-A9MK2. Each new model has been fine-tuned by sound engineers and is AIR Studios certified for the most accurate recreation of the original recording possible.

The PD-D6MK2 SACD/CD player features twin Burr-Brown D/A converters and uses Legato Link Conversion PRO technology to recreate the high harmonics often lost in digital conversion. Sound data length has been increased too, from 16-bit to 24-bit, thanks to Hi-Bit technology. The PD-D6MK2 has an MSRP of $700 and features an aluminum front panel.

Also featuring Legato Link Conversion PRO and Hi-Bit technology, the PD-D9MK2 touts Twin Wolfson D/A converters and has a Honeycomb Chassis design. Priced at $1500, the PD-D9MK2 features a rigid under-base construction, TAOC Hi-Carbon composite metal feet and a full aluminum casing.

The two new Elite G-Clef amplifiers feature a Twin Mono Symmetrical design. The left and right channel amplifiers and power supplies are independent and mirror images of each other. This allows for equal channel separation.

The SX-A6MK2 features Twin EL Transformers and the SX-A9MK2 uses Twin Toroidal Transformers. Both increase available power and prevent signal interference. The SX-A6MK2 touts 60W per channel, with the step up SX-A9MK2 featuring 70W per channel and adding a USB input. Both models will be available this month, with the SX-A6MK2 hitting the market with an MSRP of $700. The SX-A9MK2 will be available for $1,500.
