$149 Nook Wi-Fi Announced

 Nook Wi-Fi

Barnes & Noble today announced the Nook Wi-Fi – a low-cost, Wi-Fi only addition to the Nook family for only $149. The new Nook Wi-Fi offers all the features of Nook 3G including dual displays (6" E-Ink display, 3.5" LCD color touchscreen), the ability to listen to music and play games - and adds Wi-Fi connectivity. Nook Wi-Fi is now available to order online at www.nook.com and www.bestbuy.com.

The 2GB Nook Wi-Fi holds about 1,500 eBooks and has a battery life for up to 10 days on a single charge (with Wi-Fi turned off). As with other Nook devices, Nook Wi-Fi includes Barnes & Noble's LendMe feature, as well as in-store features like Read In Store and More In Store, offering free book browsing and access to exclusive content and promotions.

Barnes & Noble also announced that they have lowered the price of the Nook 3G from $259 to $199. A Nook software update is also now available (v1.4). The software update (www.nook.com/update) gives you more places to connect to Wi-Fi for free. With the download, Barnes & Noble is giving all Nook customers complimentary access to AT&T's Wi-Fi network.

"People who love to read will find tremendous value with the new NOOK Wi-Fi, the most full-featured, low-cost eReading device on the market, and our bestselling NOOK 3G now at an even lower price," said Tony Astarita, Vice President, Digital Products, Barnes & Noble.com. And with expansion of fast and free Wi-Fi access beyond Barnes & Noble stores to thousands of AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots, we're bringing additional freedom and flexibility to all NOOK 3G and NOOK Wi-Fi customers."
