McIntosh Gets in the Blu-ray Game
McIntosh, a company well known for their high-end home entertainment systems, just unveiled their first-ever Universal Audio/Video Blu-ray player, the MVP881 BR.
Not for those wanting your average Blu-ray player, the MVP881 BR supports almost all of today's video and audio disc formats, as well as BD-Live Blu-ray Profile 2.0 web-enabled features. The unit also has an SD card reader, an RS232C interface and an Ethernet connection for BD-Live content and future software updates.
The unit features a custom designed linear power supply with R-core transformer, Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio codecs are supported, and an uncompressed, 24-bit, 192 KHz PCM 7.1 channel audio bitstream is also provided. Four 32-bit, 192 kHz internally-balanced, stereo DACS deliver 7.1 channels of audio output; a fifth DAC supplies a separate, stereo downmix. And that's just telling you a little bit of what this powerhouse offers!
The McIntosh MVP881BR will be available this month with an MSRP of $8,000.
