Sonos Rocks the House with New ZonePlayer S5 Controlled by iPhone

We have always been huge fans of the Sonos product line. The company first caught our attention with the Sonos Digital Music System back in 2004. Now, they have added a new wireless music system for the iPhone loving crowd. The Sonos ZonePlayer S5 is a wireless music system controlled via iPhone (or Sonos controller) that brings music from your computer to any room in the house.

Priced at $399, with the new S5 you can control and play your iTunes library and online streaming services such as Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, and SIRIUS Internet Radio. Plus, more than 25,000+ Internet radio stations and podcasts are free of charge and pre-loaded on Sonos. The S5 also includes an analog audio input so you can connect to an external audio source (such as an iPod, CD player, TV, DVD, radio) and play music on all ZonePlayers in the system.

The S5 features a 5-driver speaker system with two tweeters, two mid-range drivers and a built-in single woofer – each individually powered by a digital amplifier. All filter settings, bass and treble controls, active equalization, and time-alignment are done in the digital domain through DSP circuitry, so there's no loss of audio quality. Simply said, you'll get crystal clear, room filling sound.

With the free Sonos Controller for iPhone app (available in the Apple App Store), you can search for songs, radio stations, and control the volume of your system. And because the iPhone is controlling the music, and not the source of it, when a text comes in or you need to make a phone call, the music doesn't stop. The S5 also includes free Sonos Controller software for your Mac or PC.

The S5 is easy to set up too and is compatible with all other Sonos products. All you have to do is plug in the S5 where you want to hear music. One ZonePlayer or Sonos ZoneBridge (sold separately) must be connected to your router and all the rest will work wirelessly. Easily expandable, when you want to hear more music in more rooms, just add another S5 or ZonePlayer.
