Nikon Intros 4 New COOLPIX Cameras; Including First Compact with a Built-in Projector!

Nikon is on a roll lately…last week they unveiled the D300s and D3000, and today Nikon announced four new COOLPIX Style Series digital cameras – the COOLPIX S70, COOLPIX S1000pj, COOLPIX S640, and COOLPIX S570.

The Nikon COOLPIX S70 features Nikon's newly developed 3.5-inch Clear Color Display and a new OLED Touch-Screen Interface. With the swipe of a finger, you can scroll through images and use a pinching motion with two fingers to zoom in or out on displayed images, switching between thumbnail and full screen views. The COOLPIX S70 also records HD video at 1280 x 720 pixels (720p).

The COOLPIX S70 will be available in September 2009 for $399.95 MSRP in the following colors: Red & Red, Champagne & Beige, Black & Black, or Champagne & Light Brown.

A first for digital cameras, the new Nikon COOLPIX S1000pj features a built in projector, allowing you to project images and videos as large as 40 inches by simply touching a button. It also has a slideshow function so you can playback pictures with music and effects when displaying photos through the projector or LCD Screen.

Other features of the S1000pj include: 12.1 megapixels, a 5x Wide Angle Zoom-NIKKOR Glass Lens, a 2.7-inch Wide Angle LCD display and a 5-way Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization System.

The COOLPIX S1000pj will be available in Matte Black, in September 2009, for $429.95 MSRP.

Also announced today, the new Nikon COOLPIX S640 has an all metal body, 12.2 megapixels, a 5x Wide Angle NIKKOR lens, a 2.7-inch Clear Color LCD display and has features like Subject Tracking and Scene Auto Selector Mode. It also features an ultra-fast auto-focus and a short shutter release time lag. And with a start up time of only 0.7 seconds, the S640 is the fastest in its class!

The S640 The COOLPIX S640 will be available in September 2009 for $249.95 MSRP in the following colors: Calm Black, Velour Red, Precious Pink, and Pearl White.

Last but certainly not least, the new Nikon COOLPIX S570 is an affordable option at only $199.95 and features 12.0 megapixels, a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens, ISO 3200 at full resolution, a 2.7-inch LCD Display, 4-way VR Image Stabilization System, Scene Auto Selector Mode, Nikon's Smart Portrait System and movie mode. It also has five advanced functions, including Blink Warning and Face-Priority AF, for consistently great portraits. Its new Skin Softening function automatically detects and analyzes a subject's skin, and then adjusts smoothness.

The COOLPIX S570 will be available in September 2009 for $199.95 MSRP and will be offered in Black, Red, Blue, and Pink.
