Zeebo Intros Inexpensive 3G Wireless Videogame Console

 Zeebo

A new videogame console is hitting the marketplace – Zeebo. This wireless gaming console features secure 3G game delivery and comes pre-loaded with four games, with a free fifth game download. It will ship next month in Brazil for $199 – definitely affordable in a marketplace that generally spends five times that amount for a gaming system! Zeebo will be available in the United States for around $179 later this year, and they are saying it will be priced at $149 when it comes out in volume next year.

What makes Zeebo different than other gaming consoles? All games are available via download ONLY. No trips out to the video store, no flipping through the manual for tips. By offering games in this way only, costs are able to stay down by not passing on the cost of packaging etc. on to the consumer.

No wireless service plan required to connect to the ZeeboNet Wireless network. However, in the future, Zeebo plans to enable consumers to connect PCs or netbooks to high-speed broadband wireless service by using the ZeeboNet Wireless Network.

Many gaming publishers have already signed on to provide content, including Capcom, Com2uS, Digital Chocolate, EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu, Id Software, Machineworks Northwest LLC, Namco Networks and THQ.
