Toshiba Showcases Revamped TheaterWide HD Line

8 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba announced today it will be significantly expanding its current offerings in the TheaterWide HD Projection Television line-up to include a new LCOS model, three new integrated HD sets and five new widescreen HD monitors. With the addition of these new models, Toshiba's TheaterWide HD lineup now has one of the widest varieties of HD sets in the industry.

TheaterWide HD Widescreen Monitor PTV Toshiba has long set the standard in HD widescreen monitors and its newest TheaterWide HD sets continue to bring the highest level of technology and functionality.

The newest TheaterWide HD models ranging from 42 to 65 inches include the 42H83, 46H83, 51H83, 57H83 and 65H83. The TheaterWide HD monitor models feature PowerFocus HD2 CRTs, PowerFocus HC Lens System, TheaterShield, and TouchFocus auto digital convergence. For 2003, 46"+ TheaterWide HD models take things to the next level with CrystalScan HDSC all-time 1080i, TheaterFine HD Super Fine Pitch Screen, CableClear(TM) DNR+, Auto 16:9 Mode, SRS WOW, New 4-item Universal Remote with DVD control, Speed Tuning, and DVI- HDTV.

The new TheaterWide HD sets also feature totally redesigned cabinetry that creates a stunning, fresh look. The 46" is a tabletop model, with a unique identically matching stand option. The 51", 57" and 65" are floor-standing models with a family design, and both the 57" and 65" models feature split cabinet designs. The new TheaterWide HD design also features intuitively placed lifting handles that mean easier set up and in-home positioning.

TheaterWide HD Integrated Sets
Toshiba's new TheaterWide HD integrated sets include the 51H93, 57H93 and 65H93. The new TheaterWide HD sets come equipped with ATSC and QAM tuners for digital terrestrial and digital cable-in-the-clear reception and a built-in Interactive Program Guide for simple, user-friendly channel navigation. The sets are equipped with 2 IEEE 1394 ports with DTVLink for inter-brand compatibility, the new TheaterNet IR ICON control system for effortless external device control, a Dolby Digital Output and Multi Card Slots for JPEG viewing. This complete feature set ensures unequaled ease of use.

New TheaterWide HD LCOS model features new cosmetics, and increased Contrast Toshiba's new 57HL83 TheaterWide HD LCOS set utilizes three 1080p LCOS chips -- red, green and blue (RGB) -- each with a resolution of 1920 horizontal x 1080 vertical or 2,073,600 pixels.

1080p LCOS provides the world's highest resolution projection TV images (2.25x that of most other digital light engines). And this year, improvements in the digital light engine and light path create an additional 15% increase in contrast. Offering full connectivity and compatibility with all of today's consumer electronics devices and components, the model comes equipped with a full array of rear input jacks, including DVI-HDTV with HDCP. The 57HL83 also features all new cosmetics, with a floating shield, and touch sensitive controls.

The new TheaterWide HD projection TVs are available now. The TheaterWide HD integrated models will be available in July, and the TheaterWide HD LCOS is scheduled to debut in September 2003.
