TiVo Kicks Off the Year with Lower Pricing

Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TiVo (NASDAQ:TIVO) today announced a price change that will for the first time, push the entry price point on the TiVo Series2 DVR to under $200 at leading retailers across the country. TiVo Series2 DVRs will be available starting at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $199 for the 40-hour, and $299 for the 80-hour model.

"Our goal has always been to make TiVo more affordable for consumers so that more people can have access to the original features unique to the TiVo service, and be in control of their television experience," said Joe Miller, Vice President of Sales at TiVo. "We believe that priced at $199, it's now easier than ever to get TiVo."

The TiVo Series2 DVR works with any TV set-up: cable, digital cable, satellite or antenna, and comes in models that can store up to 40 or 80 hours of recorded television. Both models are available at major retailers including Best Buy, Circuit City, and online at Amazon.com, and www.tivo.com. The TiVo service is sold separately for $12.95 per month, or a one-time fee of $299 for the lifetime of the product.

Customers who purchase the TiVo Series2 DVR also have the option of upgrading their service to include Home Media Option, a premium feature package that includes four features: remote scheduling, multi-room viewing, a digital music player and a digital photo viewer. With Home Media Option, programs can be scheduled to record from the Internet and shared between two or more TiVo Series2 DVRs in the home. And, digital music and photos stored on the PC or Mac can be streamed to the TiVo Series2 DVR to be enjoyed in the living room. Home Media Option is available online at www.tivo.com for a one-time fee of $99 for the first TiVo Series2 DVR, and $49 for each additional DVR.
