TEN Technology's Updated naviPlay Takes Calls

May 2005 – TEN Technology just announced that it has upgraded its award-winning naviPlay Bluetooth Stereo Kit for iPod (stereo remote and iPod adapter) to connect wirelessly to a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. This enhancement means that users can listen to and control music with the stereo remote, as well as receive, conduct and end calls on the same wireless remote and headphones seamlessly.

“With the updated naviPlay Kit, users will never have to sacrifice entertainment for fear of missing a call. When there is an incoming call, the user will hear ring tones in their headphones and can take the call with the built-in microphone in the naviPlay Handsfree Stereo Remote. When the call is ended, the music will resume playing,” said John Lin, TEN CEO and founder. “At TEN, we work hard to give products that extra edge consumers wished they had come with in the first place – the new naviPlay connects two of the most popular mobile devices and allows them to cooperate.”

The number of mobile phones with Bluetooth technology on the market is growing rapidly in the US, and is a mainstay in Europe. According to research firm Forrester, penetration of Bluetooth technology in mobile phones will rise from 26 million handsets in 2003 to 239 million in 2008.

The addition of the Bluetooth hands-free profile allows the naviPlay to exchange information with a mobile phone. Starting May 23, naviPlay units without hands-free can be updated with firmware downloadable at no cost for a limited time from the TEN website (www.tentechnology.com).

naviPlay was first introduced in late 2004 and extends the range and flexibility of an iPod through a wireless stereo remote and iPod adaptor. With the naviPlay , TEN was the first company to stream stereo-quality audio over Bluetooth technology. Through cooperation with Apple, TEN is also the only company able to extend command and control functionality from the iPod to a remote device.

naviPlay is compatible with iPod Photo, iPod Mini, Click Wheel iPod, and iPod with Dock Connector. The suggested retail price of the new naviPlay is US$239 and will be available in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Japan, Australia/New Zealand beginning in June.
