Sirius Satellite Radio to Be Offered on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury Vehicles

May 13, 2003 - Available in September, Ford Motor Company and SIRIUS will offer satellite radio as a dealer-installed option on ten different Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles in the 2004 model year:

-- Ford: Thunderbird, Mustang, Explorer, Sport Trac and Expedition
-- Lincoln: Navigator, Aviator, LS and Town Car (Town Car Available in Dec. 03)
-- Mercury: Mountaineer

Ford Motor Company also plans to expand its vehicle lineup offering SIRIUS, with details to be the subject of a future announcement. Pricing plans will be announced shortly.

Satellite radio is technically referred to as Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS). SDARS enables the delivery of a digital signal from an uplink facility on ground to orbiting satellites in space. The signal is then projected back to antennas and receivers across the continental US to a governmental-specified frequency. Simply stated, SDARS is a system allows a radio station to broadcast a signal from more than 22,000 miles away to your car radio for near CD-quality music with virtually no commercials as compared to traditional radio.
