Samsung Introduces Neo-Design DynaFlat HDTV Monitors
June 10, 2002 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., an established innovator in digital television, announces a luxury DTV line tailor-made for the home entertainment connoisseur, the NEO-designed DynaFlat series. Created for those who demand only the best in picture quality, design and performance, the new NEO DynaFlats are the first available models in Samsung’s family of new-look Tantus brand DTVs that match sophisticated style with superb circuitry. Samsung’s NEO series HDTV monitors feature a stylish cabinet and slimmer width, matching stand, the latest DTV technology, a powerful built-in subwoofer satellite sound system, and connections to handle whatever TV format – satellite, cable or over air – a user may choose. The fully featured line includes the 27” TXM2798HF, 32” TXM3298HF, and 30” widescreen TXM3098WHF. John Lavoie, Marketing Manager, Visual Display Group, Samsung Electronics America, Inc., states, “Samsung has designed the NEO DynaFlats to be not only the powerful center of any digital home entertainment system, but also the stylish centerpiece to any room in the house. The artistically-designed, slim-width form factor leaves a small footprint, fits comfortably with any entertainment system, and enhances the look of any room. Additionally, the NEOs improved, high-end screen features, circuitry and performance stand a cut above and make viewing TV or movies an even more enjoyable experience.”
Samsung NEO Cabinet Design, Enhanced Performance
Samsung’s stylish NEO cabinet design actually adds to the functionality of the set by incorporating a flat-screen CRT and darker bezel to improve contrast and a lighter cabinet to better match room decor. The cabinet incorporates a built-in subwoofer satellite system with bottom-firing speakers that facilitates the slim form-factor and enhances the home theater experience with fuller and richer sound.
DTV performance enhancements include Samsung’s impressive 3/2 pull down technology. Because film is shot at 24 frames per second and video scans at 30 frames per second, problems can arise when converting a film to video. Samsung’s sophisticated 3/2 pull down system electronically compensates for this problem, creating smoother, clearer motion while eliminating blurring and ghosting. The pro-quality BBE audio boosts high and low frequency ranges to produce dialog that’s easier to understand and sound that’s brilliantly clear, well-defined and audible. A 5-band equalizer allows for more precise custom tailoring of the audio spectrum. Additional features include an 8 Bit 4 MHz 3D Y/C Comb Filter and an S-Video input for improved DVD, VCR, camcorder or satellite receiver connection. The built-in two-tuner Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Split Screen PIP (side-by-side) capabilities offer users the ultimate multi-viewing home theater experience.
Samsung DynaFlat - Flat Is Best
Manufacturers and consumers alike agree that flat TV marks an impressive new era for television. The entire NEO lineup employs Samsung’s state-of-the-art, proprietary DynaFlat technology, which presents a perfectly flat image without the curvature, image distortion or glare that is associated with traditional TV screens. Offering comfortable viewing with brilliant, crisp pictures, Samsung’s DynaFlat TVs match the benefits of flat with the advantages of digital. These HDTV Monitors are capable of displaying the finest DTV signal with the addition of a digital satellite receiver, digital cable box or an HDTV tuner such as Samsung’s award-winning SIR-T150. DynaFlat technology offers higher quality analog TV now, and as soon as you are ready for HDTV, the DynaFlats are ready too.
Samsung ProChip - The Power of Progressive Scan
The NEO DynaFlats incorporate Samsung’s Digital ProPicture conversion system for enhancement of even analog signals. This three-stage system includes Total DSP system, the Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-progressive scan system for a high-quality, flicker-free picture, and Defining Filter for brilliant color and amazing detailing around image edges. Samsung’s Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-progressive scan conversion system makes DVDs look their best. DVD has exploded in popularity over the past few years, yet most consumers have not experienced the full benefit and power of DVD. Nearly all DVDs are now produced for film-quality progressive scan viewing, and most are shot in the sweeping 16:9 widescreen ratio. As the DynaFlats natively display progressive scan and offer widescreen models, they are the ultimate devices for DVD playback.
HD inputs further fortify the NEO DynaFlats for future compatibility with devices yet to be developed. Connections include a multi-purpose DTV/DVD video/wideband Component Video input that accepts an array of high-quality signals including 480i, 480p and 1080i. The Y/Pb/Pr input allows for the favorable and flicker free 480p progressive scan or 1080i High Definition image.
The 27” TXM2798HF (MSRP $999), 32” TXM3298HF (MSRP $1,499) and 30” widescreen TXM3098WHF (MSRP $1,499) will all be available in June 2002.
