SAM'S CLUB to Sell DVR & DVD Recorders with Tivo Service in 300 Clubs Nationwide
The initial Humax lineup will include the 80-hour TiVo Series2 DVR, which requires the TiVo service and give viewers the ability to easily find and record their favorite TV programs without the hassles of video tape. The TiVo service not only allows subscribers to control live TV with features such as pause, rewind, slow motion, and instant replay, but includes exclusive features like WishList searches and Season Pass recordings, allowing viewers to record every episode of their favorite programs -- even skipping the repeats.
In addition, TiVo now offers Series2 DVR subscribers home media features and online scheduling as part of the standard service package for $12.95 per month. These new features enable subscribers to schedule recordings from any Internet connection, move content between two or more TiVo boxes in the home, and enjoy digital music and photos in the comfort of their living room on their home entertainment system. With the home media features built in to the service, subscribers can now enjoy other digital content the same way they enjoy television with the TiVo service.
SAM'S CLUB will carry the recorders at consistent, every day costs that often top competitors' prices without requiring consumers to wait for sales. Consumers can purchase the equipment in clubs or online at http://www.samsclub.com . The TiVo service is sold separately for $12.95 per month, or a one-time fee of $299 for product lifetime, and can be purchased directly from TiVo either online at http://www.tivo.com or by calling 877-367-TIVO.
"SAM'S CLUB meets the business and personal needs of our members," said Seong Ohm, vice president and divisional merchandising manager for electronics, SAM'S CLUB. "We're pleased to offer this very popular product, which has really become a cultural phenomenon, at a consistent and exceptional value."
SAM'S CLUB plans to add additional TiVo-brand product offerings in time for the holiday shopping season.
"With nearly 50 million members, and over 300 locations worldwide, SAM'S CLUB gives more consumers than ever the opportunity to see for themselves why their friends are raving about TiVo's offerings," said Joe Miller, vice president of sales and distribution, TiVo Inc. "SAM'S CLUB is offering a variety of TiVo-powered products so that everyone can choose the one that best fits their home entertainment style."
The addition of TiVo DVRs will bolster SAM'S CLUB electronics offerings, which currently include a range of LCD and flat-screen TVs; DVD and DVD/VCR combo players; surround sound home theater systems and satellite radio systems; and highly capable camcorders, projectors and digital cameras. SAM'S CLUB also offers high-performing security systems, monitors, intercoms and accessories in clubs and online at http://www.samsclub.com.
