Runco Releases Newly Designed Integrated Plasma Displays

Runco CW-50MCJuly 2003 -- Runco has released its new 16:9 widescreen Cinema Wall CW-43MC and CW-50MC plasma display monitors. For the first time, Runco has integrated the basic functionality of its acclaimed Vivix processing onto a modular card, to be used in a flat panel display. These models bring plasma-TV performance to a new level, with bright, defined, detailed pictures and impressive contrast and color from screens less than 4-1/2 inches in depth.

“It’s no secret that plasma displays are wildly popular with consumers,” says Runco founder and CEO Sam Runco; “The appeal of a bright, flat, self-contained screen is very alluring. But achieving legitimately high-end video from plasma technology is not that simple, especially from a one-piece design. Runco has worked hard to optimize these new, fully integrated flat-screen sets with a proprietary technology that produces the vivid color, deep blacks, and controlled gray-scale performance that serious video reproduction demands—and that discerning viewers rightfully expect from a Runco product.”

The integral Vivix circuitry performs orthogonal line processing and deinterlacing, ensuring the best possible image regardless of a program’s origin, be it film or video, with vividly accurate, deeply saturated color and superior brightness and contrast—without the visible artifacts so often seen from more conventional processing. Additional Vivix technology advancements include Active Grayscale Rendering, which maintains smooth, progressive transitions within darker to lighter picture areas, producing depth of textures and shadow detail unmatched among plasma designs. The result is the superior plasma performance only available from Runco displays.

These two new plasma displays augment the versatile PL-43HDX and PL-50HDX, which include Runco’s external PFP Controller, designed to provide more sophisticated control functionality and connectivity in addition to full-featured Vivix processing.

The CW-43MC and CW-50MC were engineered for custom-installation ease and media-system integration, with fully capable RS-232C serial interfaces, comprehensive infrared remote and full automation control. What’s more, the new Runco plasma sets feature a DVI/HDCP input for digital 480P source material, permitting direct digital-video interconnection with compatible sources such as recent DTV tuners or new-generation DVD players, yielding even greater clarity and detail. The new CW-43MC has a native resolution of 1024 x 768 while the CW-50MC displays 1280 x 768, easily accommodating all HDTV sources.
