Runco Introduces 1280 x 720p Single-Chip Projector Enabled by DLP Technology

Reflection VX-1000cFebruary 2002 - Runco recently introduced the Reflection VX-1000c—a new high-resolution projector enabled by Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing technology. Employing TI’s newest generation DMD chip (Digital Micromirror Device) designed specifically for 16:9 screens, the VX-1000c achieves unprecedented resolution and black level for the ultimate performance in a single chip projector enabled by DLP technology. With its native high resolution of 1280 x 720, and its true 16:9 mirror configuration, the VX-1000c is capable of accurately displaying HDTV, and can fully resolve 720p HDTV sources, something even many CRT-based units can’t achieve. The projector’s bright 1500 ANSI lumen light output, coupled with an amazing 1000:1 contrast ratio, make the VX-1000c capable of truly bringing the big screen Hollywood experience into the home theater setting.

"Runco was among the very first companies to recognize the advantages of DLP technology for home entertainment applications," said Pete Broas, Marketing Manager for DLP™ Home Entertainment at TI’s DLP™ Products division. "Once again, they are in the forefront with the announcement of the VX-1000c: it is one of the first products to take advantage of our recently-released HD chipset for home entertainment applications which is expected to set new standards in clarity, sharpness and brightness."

And for the ultimate picture quality in a one-chip design, the VX-1000c is paired with a PFP (Pixel for Pixel) Controller—featuring Runco’s proprietary ViViX Pixel for Pixel video processing technology. This award winning processing technology matches the native resolution of the projector pixel for pixel (1280 x 720 in this case), thereby ensuring high-resolution images free of scaling artifacts. The VX-1000c’s PFP Controller adds upgraded video processing, and aspect ratio control for additional flexibility and performance.

To help overcome the challenges of today’s complicated installations, the projector is equipped with electronic keystone correction and vertical lens shift, both of which provide critical flexibility for the installer.
