Rotel Introduces New 500 Watt Dolby Digital and DTS Receiver

Rotel RSX-1065 December 2001—Demonstrating its leadership role in audio technology, Rotel Electronics introduces the RSX-1065 multi-channel receiver, expanding its line-up of award-winning home theater components. The Rotel RSX-1065 incorporates all the features of a separate stereo tuner, five channel amplifier, and surround sound processor, within one single chassis. It is designed to deliver exceptional two-channel stereo and multi-channel Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital and DTS excitement with the same sonic excellence that Rotel audio enthusiasts have long relied upon in the past.

The RSX-1065 is designed and engineered to deliver outstanding sound quality, under the most difficult circumstances. Even discerning audio enthusiasts will be impressed at this multi-channel receiver’s ability to drive “amplification hungry” loudspeakers, which generally require higher levels of electrical current for optimum performance. At the heart of this receivers power supply is Rotel’s proprietary toroidal transformer technology, which ensures that all sounds, from delicate subtle nuances to dynamic crescendos, are perfectly reproduced.

True to Rotel’s heritage, the RSX-1065 is conservatively rated at 100 watts per channel, all channels driven, and a staggering 200 watts per channel when measured independently.

Sound performance is further enhanced by use of Rotel’s Advanced Crystal Semiconductor microprocessing that expertly directs the Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound decoding, as well as the various music effects, such as concert hall and stadium modes suited for musical listening, for crisp and precise channel separation.

Flexibility and Compatibility
In addition to conventional multi-channel surround sound capabilities, the RSX-1065 boasts two additional preamplifier output connections, so that with the use of additional amplifiers, an additional pair of loudspeakers can be connected to the system. This provides home theater enthusiasts the spatial benefits of the recent enhanced surround formats from Dolby Laboratories and DTS. In addition, the unit is multi-zone and multi-source capable, making it possible for a user to enjoy movies in the home theater room at the same time that another user listens to an entirely different source (such as CD, tuner, tape deck, etc.), in another room or perhaps even outside the house.

The Rotel RSX-1065 multi-channel receiver accepts both audio and video signals, simplifying switching from one input source to another. Accordingly, the receiver incorporates two sets of component video inputs for compatibility with today’s advanced digital video sources such as DVD players. A set of component video monitor output connectors pass the video signal through to a compatible component video-equipped display device, eliminating the need for the user to purchase separate component video switching units.

For custom installation applications, the RSX-1065 features an RS-232C serial port and discrete on/off remote control command coding, making it compatible for trouble-free integration with custom automated control systems such as AMX, Phast, and Crestron. Additionally, two 12-volt output connectors allow the unit to power-on/power-off other integrated system components. A learning backlit universal remote control with LCD display is standard, allowing the user to program the remote control to learn all the commands of the his/her audio and video components, eliminating the abundance of remote controls scattered about the coffee table.

The RSX-1065 receiver also features an easy to read, user-friendly display panel which features “Custom ID”, allowing the user to program the input source selector to display exactly which component has been selected for use. In addition, in keeping with the growing amount of digital audio sources available in the marketplace, the RSX-1065’s three coaxial and two optical digital inputs are assignable, allowing the user to set-up and arrange the digital inputs to match their own individual digital components. Furthermore a coaxial and optical digital output allow for easy recording of your favorite digital sources.

Established in 1961, Rotel has been manufacturing high-quality, affordably-priced audio components for 40 years. Rotel’s product philosophy has remained the same—simply stated—the best need not be the most costly.

The RSX-1065 measures 17 1/8” W x 7 ” H x 15 ” D.
