Pioneer Delivers the Future at 2003 NAB Conference

April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Electronics is delivering the future of digital technology at this week's National Association of Broadcasters Conference with an array of new audio, video and cable television products. Headlining the new product line is the company's PRV-LX1 professional multiple drive DVD-Video recorder that offers powerful, real-time recording to DVD-R and DVD-RW media while providing the ability to customize menus and edit content.

The design of the PRV-LX1 was based on direct input from professional video customers who asked for easy operation in transferring video and audio content to DVD while having the flexibility to select menu designs. The base PRV-LX1 is equipped with a 120GB hard drive in addition to a single DVD-R/RW high-speed recording drive. By adding an optional second DVD-R/RW drive, the PRV-LX1 can support simultaneous recording to two DVD-R/RW discs, as well as high-speed transfer of content stored on the hard drive. Future options expected by fourth quarter 2003 include the availability of a serial digital interface (SDI) module. The PRV-LX1 employs a Linux-based operating system, providing the potential to extend the capabilities of the recorder in response to the evolving needs of professional video customers and industry trends.

"The buzz about DVD recording always seems to focus on a replacement for the consumer VCR, but we believe there is a significant need for a feature-rich, professional DVD-Video recorder," said Andy Parsons, senior vice president of the industrial video and mass storage group for the Business Solutions Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "The PRV-LX1 fulfills that need and broadens Pioneer's current line of commercial DVD recorders and players." Target markets include film and video production and post-production, CATV and broadcast facilities, government and corporate users, and virtually any video professionals or serious video users interested in converting video content to DVD.

Pioneer will also showcase a variety of professional audio, video and cable television products, including:

  • High Definition Cable Set Top Box (Voyager 3510HD) -- Engineered to meet the growing demand for high-definition television entertainment, the Pioneer Voyager 3510HD set top box offers viewers the ability to enjoy maximum picture quality from analog, digital and HDTV signals. Cable customers with a Voyager 3510HD can view high-definition programs in all 16 ATSC formats supported by the cable industry, including 720p, 1080i, as well as 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.

  • Computer DVD Writer (DVR-A05) -- Pioneer's award-winning fifth generation high speed CD/DVD burner doubles writing performance across the board with 4X DVD-R, 2X DVD-RW, 16X CD-R and 8X CD-RW capabilities. The new 4X DVD-R recording speed translates to approximately 15 minutes to fully record a high-speed 4.7 GB DVD-R disc. In addition to its wide range of video recording applications, software bundled with the DVR-A05 enables two-minute quick formatting for DVD-RW data discs, and allows finished DVD-RW discs to be "unfinalized" for adding data files.

  • A Family of FlexLibrary Storage Systems (DRM-7000 and DRM-3000) -- The FlexLibrary systems offer a complete, cost-effective media archive solution able to store and distribute valuable video and audio assets. With two library sizes available -- up to 720 or 320 discs -- Pioneer can offer a storage solution for mid-range and large storage needs, with the capacity to store up to six terabytes of video material. The FlexLibrary is a tremendous space and cost saver that is capable of replacing large tape libraries.

  • Professional Audio Products (CDJ-1000 and CDJ-800) -- Pioneer offers a range of digital media players, digital vinyl turntables, mixers and headphones that give recording studios more flexibility in production and manipulation of CD audio tracks. Pioneer uses its proprietary Legato Link technology for fuller, warmer sound quality that recording studios desire. Scratching or sampling a particular CD music selection can be done with ease using a Pioneer digital vinyl turntable like the CDJ-1000 or CDJ-800, eliminating the need for creating expensive dub plates.
