Philips Introduces New Touch-Screen Color Device
June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Philips Components, a division of Royal
Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, today unveiled the latest innovation
within its touch-screen remote control family of products -- the TSU6000 --
during the National Cable Telecommunications Association show, held
June 11 through June 13.
Leveraging the strengths of its demonstrated flagship product, the
TSU2000, Philips' Remote Control Systems (RCS) group has taken the TSU6000 one
step further by enhancing the edit software-enabling communications between
both devices. This program is an extremely powerful and flexible tool for OEM
customers and end-users as it gives the opportunity to exploit the full
capacity of the device by creating unique graphical user interfaces best
suited to individual needs.
"The introduction of the TSU6000 signals Philips' continuous strategy to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of touch-screen based input and control solutions," noted Xavier Delmeiren, general manager for Philips Components' RCS group. "Leveraging our hardware and software systems and design expertise provides us with the opportunity to offer our customers the most customized remote control solutions available-furthering Philips' overall leadership position in this market," he added.
The TSU6000 is a 256-color high-resolution liquid crystal display (LCD) touch-screen remote control module, which can portray both graphic images, along with photos. In addition, this module features a unique pick-up sensor, which instantly activates the remote control once it is lifted. Equally important is the TSU6000's memory capacity -- up to 8 MB -- giving the freedom to implement any type of user interface customers might require. Moreover, the TSU 6000's storage capacity is secured by using flash memory, which protects the user from any loss of data should the device run out of power. In addition, the TSU6000 architecture includes not only IR transmission, but also RF, which communicates with an RF/IR extender and provides the comfort of multi-room control. Lastly, the TSU6000 features a universal database, which contains more than 500 brands in 17 product segments.
Philips will be showcasing the TSU6000, along with other exciting products from its remote control product portfolio, during the National Cable Telecommunications Association show held this week from June 11 - June 13, at booth #1738.
