Parasound "C" Series Speakers Deliver High-End Sound

Parasound C-260 In-Wall Speaker8/16/02 -- Parasound Products has introduced its new "C" Series of architectural loudspeakers, delivering true high-fidelity sound reproduction that blends into the room. The lineup consists of three in-wall speakers and two ceiling-mounted speakers designed for use in stereo, home theater, or distributed audio systems (commercial or residential).

The C 280 and C 265 two-way in-wall speakers feature 8-inche and 6.5-inch Kevlar woofers (respectively) with phase plugs and butyl rubber surrounds for optimum neutrality and transparency. Inspired by the company’s popular PAL series of speakers, these models feature double the cone excursion and a 28 percent increase in radiating piston area over their predecessors, delivering stronger bass impact and smoother extension at all listening levels. Both models employ ferrofluid-cooled 1-inch Aluminum diaphragm tweeters with neodymium magnets, and the tweeter’s vented double chamber designs result in noticeably smoother high-end frequency response and improved power handling. A three-position treble adjust switch can be used to boost or attenuate the tweeter output by +/- 3dB to match room acoustics. The C 285 and C 265 have suggested retail prices of $535 per pair and $435 per pair respectively.

The C 260 is a two-way in-wall speaker with a 6.5-inch Polypropylene and Mica woofer cone with phase plug, and a 1-inch ferrofluid-cooled soft dome tweeter. Rather than using the foam surround material found in many speakers, the C 260 uses advanced Santoprene for improved frequency response linearity and to prevent drying out with age. Premium crossover parts are used to preserve clarity and reduce insertion loss. The C 260 is available at a suggested retail price of $285 per pair.

The C 85 and C 65 are two-way coaxial ceiling mount speakers featuring 8.5-inch and 6.5-inch woofers respectively. The woofer cones and surrounds are the same Polypropylene/Mica and Santoprene material used in the C 260. Since ceiling speakers are often mounted near side walls, the 1-inch Aluminum diaphragm ferrofluid cooled tweeters can be aimed up to 15 degrees off-axis for smoother in-room response and focus. The tweeter housings are wrapped in sound-absorbing foam to minimize woofer cone reflections for improved midrange response. The C 85 and C 65 have suggested retail prices of $370 per pair and $250 per pair respectively.
