Panasonic Unveils New In-Dash Mobile Entertainment SystemsThese all-inclusive units also play back CDs, and MP3 files on CD-R and CD-RW discs. Both models feature 45W x 4 channel amps; the CQ-VAD9200U adds a 35W amp for center speaker surround sound, plus built-in Dolby Digital and dts decoders. A unique Video Capture feature allows users to personalize the system by downloading a screen saver from a digital camera or capturing a freeze frame from a favorite DVD movie. A total of three images can be stored to enhance the user's musical and visual mood. Model CQ-VAD7200U will have a suggested manufacturer's retail price (MSRP) of $2,399.99. The CQ-VAD9200U will have an MSRP of $2,699.99. Both are planned for introduction in July, 2002. "These versatile mobile systems combine performance, features and knock-out cosmetics," said Rob Lopez, National Marketing Manager for Panasonic car audio products. "They put all your entertainment needs at the tip of your finger for nonstop fun." A motorized, flip-open/fold down LCD monitor provides manual swivel adjustments (left to right) to achieve the optimum viewing angle. A colorful, intuitive Graphic User Interface (G.U.I.) and menu-driven Operating System make controlling all A/V functions fun and easy. Both systems feature a TV tuner for channels 2-69 and a pre-set memory for 18 stations. The 2-channel diversity antenna provides optimal TV reception, even in weak signal areas. The system's hideaway AV control unit synchronizes multiple functions, letting users configure an ideal mobile theater. Two sets of audio/video inputs (RCA) allow connection of a second video source such as a video game console, VHS player or even a back-up camera. Users can also connect an additional CD changer to the control unit, and operate it from the system's in-dash control panel. The Private Mode allows front and rear seat passengers to enjoy independent audio sources. The kids in the back seat can enjoy their favorite DVD movie, listening to the soundtrack with an optional infrared transmitter and wireless headphones, while you and your front seat passenger can listen to a music CD or the radio without distraction. "This type of all-inclusive entertainment system is a real benefit when taking children on long trips," said Lopez. "You can keep them entertained for hours with music, movies, TV shows and video games, while you concentrate on the driving." The CQ-VAD9200U and CQ-VAD7200U feature an attractive, jet-black finish.
