Panasonic Sunroof-Compatible DVD System Featured in 2004 GM Vehicles

July, 2003 - Panasonic, an industry leader in DVD products and technologies, is providing General Motors with the first Panasonic-branded DVD passenger entertainment system custom-designed for compatibility with factory-installed sunroofs. Available as an option in select 2004 sport utility vehicles, pickups, and crossover vehicles from Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick, the sleek, overhead-mounted DVD entertainment system features a retractable 7-inch (diagonal) 16:9 LCD screen, two sets of wireless headphones, a wireless remote, and a fully integrated DVD/CD player that delivers astounding sound quality directly from the vehicle speaker system.

"Panasonic was the first to market many innovative DVD products in several categories, and was the first to bring in-vehicle DVD entertainment systems to General Motors' full-size SUVs, full-size pickups, and crossover vehicles," said Vincent Sarrecchia, President of Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America. "With this new system, consumers aren't forced to choose between a sunroof and an overhead DVD entertainment system; now they can have both."

"In-vehicle DVD systems are a growing market, and Panasonic is highly recognized for its performance standards in both factory-installed and aftermarket products," commented Sarrecchia. "We are proud to work with General Motors and happy to have the opportunity to provide even more value to their new products."

The Panasonic branded DVD video system is fully integrated with the vehicle's audio system. It features auxiliary audio/video inputs to connect additional devices such as video games, camcorders or digital still cameras. A parental control switch is included to allow the driver to play, pause, and mute the system from the front seat. The LCD screen features adjustable viewing angles and an on-screen display menu for convenient system operations. The wireless headphones feature a child resistant battery cover, independent on/off with LED indicator and auto turn-off feature to preserve battery life when not in use. The wireless remote can be used for the General Motors system as well as for many other Panasonic DVD players.
