Nike Introduces techlab Series Using Viewpoint Media
Oct. 30, 2001--
Launching its second year of Viewpoint deployment, Nike showcases its new techlab product line of heart rate monitors, two-way radios, watches, portable audio players and other advanced electronics for athletes.
The site uses new features from Viewpoint Corporation (Nasdaq:VWPT), a leader in digital marketing technologies and services, to display and explain the new products. To see these products in action visit: http://niketown.nike.com/3d/techlab/index.html
Nike customers can learn about the new products through narrated virtual tours that utilize Viewpoint's unique combination of photorealistic 3D and integrated Flash(TM) playback. The result is a complete sales presentation in file sizes barely larger than static 2D images of the same products.
"At Nike we strive to innovate in everything we do, which also includes what we do on the Web," said Amanda Houston, Merchandise Director of nike.com. "Using Viewpoint technology to show and sell our products allows our users to have a richer experience with our brand and our products. There's no question in my mind that utilizing rich media in e-commerce is the way of the future." "Nike has always been a technology leader in its industry," said Chris Robin, Director of Strategic Relationships for Viewpoint. "With our technology in place, nike.com has a great way to drive customer interest, brand their unique products and increase sales."
