New RCA Bookshelf Audio System Moves Music from CD to MP3 Player
July 26, 2005 - Three easy steps are all it takes to move your favorite music from CD to a portable digital music player with the new RCA RS2052 Digital Music Studio. The innovative RCA "Rip & Go" Digital Music Studio with mp3 Player from Thomson is the first CD bookshelf audio system that allows the transfer of digital audio content to a portable audio player without a PC. Just dock the mp3 player (included with bookshelf system purchase) into the top of the unit, insert a CD into the 5-disc CD changer, and press record. In just minutes, music is transferred to the portable mp3 player for enjoyment while "on the go."
Ideal for younger children, students, and even grandparents, the new RCA bookshelf audio system comes with a 128MB RCA flash mp3 player that stores up to two hours of music. Audio content is transferred to the player in real time from a CD or the radio through a built-in USB connection. For a total personalized experience, consumers can choose to either record an entire CD or create a combination of tracks from all five CDs.
"In a recent Consumer Electronics Association survey, only 13 percent of online adults stated that the PC was their primary source for audio content. The fact remains that many consumers do not have the desire or the time to sit in front of the PC and transfer music to a portable audio device, but they still want to enjoy all the benefits of the mp3 player," said Dan Collishaw, Vice President, Worldwide Audio and Video. "The RCA Digital Music Studio is the easiest way to go portable - providing the quickest and simplest method to get music onto the player."
On its own, the 160-watt RS2052 is a feature-packed bookshelf audio system. It utilizes the compact Neo-5 CD changer design, which allows users to change any of the four CDs while one continues to play. The unique "intro" function allows listeners to sample music from the first 10 seconds of each track on all five CDs. Capable of playing CD-R and CD-RW discs, as well as mp3 and Windows Media Audio files, the bookshelf system also features an SD memory card slot for music playback and a digital AM/FM tuner with 32 preset stations. The remote control operates all the functions and features of both the audio system and the mp3 player when it is docked.
For creating personalized sound, the system offers bass boost and six EQ modes. The built-in clock and alarm allows users the choice of waking to their favorite CD or radio station. The mp3 player features a multi-line display, shuffle and repeat playback options as well as the choice of Bass, Pop, Rock, and Jazz DSP modes to enhance different kinds of music. Headphones are also included for the portable digital music player. The RS2052 is now available at Best Buy. Suggested retail price is $179.
