New Panasonic Portable CD/MP3 Players Feature Longer Playback Time
In addition to playing commercially produced music CDs, these players let users enjoy home-recorded music which has been saved as MP3 music files and recorded onto CD-R or CD-RW discs1. The MP3 format (audio format designation MPEG1, Audio Layer 3) can hold huge amounts of compressed audio data while retaining excellent audio quality.
Listeners can quickly access their personal MP3 music library by searching for albums with the convenient Album Skip function. Other features provided to make the most of MP3 playback include Random Play (file/album), Repeat Play (file/album) and 20-track random access programming.
For CD playback, the units also feature 24-track Random Access Programming, Repeat, Resume, Skip/Search and Memory/Recall. A Hold switch is included to prevent accidental button activation.
Both players include Panasonic's "No Skip" Anti-Skip System, smooth playback mechanism and back-up memory buffers for skip-free listening enjoyment.
Both models also possess top-mounted control buttons that are logically arranged, simplifying operation by touch. The large, easy-to-read dot matrix LCD, also located on the top of the players, displays disc status. Other features include a "pop-up" disc eject mechanism for easy disc removal, auto-power off to prevent battery drainage and a heat-resistant polycarbonate body.
In addition to standard "AA" alkaline battery operation, the SL-MP35 and SL-MP36C can be powered by optional rechargeable batteries or via a car power adapter or AC adapter. (The car power adapter and AC adapter are included with the SL-MP36C, but are optional with the SL-MP35.) To provide consumers with optional power choices, Panasonic markets high-quality, long-lasting alkaline batteries specifically created for digital electronics, as well as rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries that can be recharged hundreds of times.
