New Panasonic In-Dash Mobile DVD Player

November 11, 2003 - Panasonic broadens its mobile entertainment line with the introduction of a sleek new in-dash DVD player that marries crisp DVD video entertainment with the latest in CD audio enjoyment. Available in November, model CX-D3000U is a single DIN size mobile DVD player that makes it easy to bring home entertainment on the road.

"Capable of playing commercially produced CDs, home-recorded audio discs and DVD videos, this versatile new unit will provide audio/video entertainment, whether you travel across town or across the country," says Rob Lopez, National Marketing Manager for Panasonic car audio products. "This new mobile DVD player can easily --and affordably-- turn any automobile into a cinema on wheels," notes Lopez.

With the new CX-D3000U, the entertainment options are numerous. For audio, users can listen to traditional compact discs or home-recorded CDs containing MP3 music files. The files can be organized into folders that can be named according to titles, artists, types of music, etc. The CX-D3000U will then read and display this text information on an external video monitor (sold separately), enabling users to scroll through and easily access selections.

In addition to audio enjoyment, passengers in the back seat can also use the CX-D3000U to watch their favorite DVD videos. The system is able to read both single-layer and dual-layer DVDs, allowing commercially created and home-recorded movies and videos to be played.

The CX-D3000U also features Anti-Shock Memory that provides a buffer to overcome DVD/CD skipping. The system comes with a full-function wireless remote control to operate slow motion, still and other special playback modes, as well as all basic functions. The 10-key pad enables quick, direct selection of many DVD special features, including subtitle and dialogue languages, camera angle, title/chapter number and more.

Totally customizable, the versatile CX-D3000U makes it easy to start with a basic system and then easily upgrade. Both analog and digital outputs are provided, so it's easy to connect the AUX inputs of a conventional stereo head unit or take it to the next level by adding 5.1ch Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound with, for example, the Panasonic CY-AC300 Dual-Decoder Digital Surround Processor. The unit's composite video output enables connection to a regular TV (with RCA video input jack) or monitor, such as the Panasonic CY-VM5800 5.8-inch (diagonal) color LCD display.

CD player features include automatic disc loading, 12-track direct access, track scan, search, repeat (track or disc) and random play.

The new Panasonic CX-D3000U will be available this month, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $349.95.
